How a tile to hardwood conversion works

We break out the tile and its mortar, then repair and build up the subfloor so the new hardwood sits level with the existing floor. The new boards are woven into the old ones, then the whole area is sanded and refinished together.

Matching the new boards to the old floor

We match the species and board width, and stain the new boards to blend with the old. Older floors have aged, so we tell you how close the match can get before the work starts. Sometimes refinishing the connected rooms gives the most even result, and we will price that option too.

When keeping tile makes more sense

Clear the rooms your way

Move the furniture yourself, or ask us to book the professional movers we work with. They photograph each room, move everything to another room, the driveway or a storage pod, and put it back where it was. Moving is optional and priced separately.

We do the work

Floors, carpets and stairs that are staying can be covered while we work. If the job needs an electrician or a plumber, we bring in trades we work with, or work alongside yours.

Clean up and move back in

We tidy and vacuum the work area when we finish. If you want the whole home cleaned before you settle back in, ask about a deep clean, priced separately.

Each step beyond the flooring work is optional and quoted on its own.
