Before a new floor goes down, the old one has to come out cleanly. New Era Flooring removes old flooring and ceramic tile, checks the subfloor underneath and gets it ready for what comes next. You can book removal and preparation on its own, or as the first stage of a new floor.

What we remove

We take up old flooring throughout a room, break out old ceramic tile and remove carpet from stairs that are getting hardwood steps. Tell us what is on the floor now and how many rooms are involved.

What happens once the old floor is up?

With the old floor gone, we can see the subfloor properly. Loose sheets get screwed down, damaged areas are replaced, extra subfloor can be glued and screwed down for strength, and uneven areas are levelled.

Where tile is going back down, we install an uncoupling membrane over the prepared subfloor.

Removal on its own, or as part of a bigger job

Some people want only the tear-out and prep done, then install the floor themselves or with another trade. Others want one company from start to finish. Both work. Tell us which you want when you ask for a quote.

Protecting the rest of the house

Demolition is the dustiest part of a flooring job. We can cover the floors, carpets and stairs that are staying, and we tidy and vacuum the work area when we finish. If you want the whole house cleaned afterwards, ask about a deep clean.

Clear the rooms your way

Move the furniture yourself, or ask us to book the professional movers we work with. They photograph each room, move everything to another room, the driveway or a storage pod, and put it back where it was. Moving is optional and priced separately.

We do the work

Floors, carpets and stairs that are staying can be covered while we work. If the job needs an electrician or a plumber, we bring in trades we work with, or work alongside yours.

Clean up and move back in

We tidy and vacuum the work area when we finish. If you want the whole home cleaned before you settle back in, ask about a deep clean, priced separately.

Each step beyond the flooring work is optional and quoted on its own.
