Subfloor repair and levelling in Ottawa

A new floor is only as good as what is under it. New Era Flooring checks the subfloor, screws down loose sheets, glues and screws down new subfloor where it is damaged or needs strength, and levels the surface so the new floor sits flat.

Start with a floor assessment

If a floor feels soft, moves underfoot or is visibly uneven, the cause is often below the finished surface. We look at the floor and, where needed, what is under it, then tell you what the fix involves. You can book an assessment on its own.

Re-screwing, gluing and adding subfloor

Loose subfloor sheets are screwed back down to the framing. Damaged sections are cut out and replaced. Where the floor needs more strength, we glue and screw an extra layer of subfloor down before the new floor goes in.

Self-levelling uneven floors

Dips and humps show through a new floor, and tile is especially unforgiving. We pour self-levelling compound over uneven areas so the surface is flat before plank flooring or tile goes down.

Preparing a subfloor for tile

For tile, the prepared subfloor gets an uncoupling membrane, and wet areas get a waterproofing membrane. We use Schluter systems, including KERDI.

If you plan to install the floor yourself, or another trade is doing it, you can hire us for the assessment and subfloor work only.

Clear the rooms your way

Move the furniture yourself, or ask us to book the professional movers we work with. They photograph each room, move everything to another room, the driveway or a storage pod, and put it back where it was. Moving is optional and priced separately.

We do the work

Floors, carpets and stairs that are staying can be covered while we work. If the job needs an electrician or a plumber, we bring in trades we work with, or work alongside yours.

Clean up and move back in

We tidy and vacuum the work area when we finish. If you want the whole home cleaned before you settle back in, ask about a deep clean, priced separately.
