Hardwood & Vinyl Installation In Ottawa

Plan The Work Around Your Home

Plan your new floor from the surface underneath to the trim around the room. New Era Flooring installs hardwood and vinyl and can take on the removal, preparation and finishing work around the installation.

Start With The Existing Floor

If you are replacing a floor, we can remove the old material and assess the subfloor before the new flooring goes down. Depending on the job, preparation may include repairs, re-screwing the existing subfloor, adding new subfloor material or levelling the surface. We can also assess a specific flooring concern when you are not replacing the whole room. Read more about removing the old floor and subfloor repair and levelling.

Baseboards, Shoe Moulding And Doors

Plan the edges of the room as well as the floor. New Era can install baseboards and shoe moulding, hang doors and carry out related trim work. Trim installation can also include caulking, painting and finishing where those items are part of the agreed job. See baseboards, trim and doors for trim work on its own.

Localized Repairs And Hardwood Tie-Ins

You may only need help with one area of the floor. New Era can assess localized hardwood or other flooring repairs and discuss the surrounding subfloor work. We can also look at how a repair relates to the existing flooring before deciding whether wider refinishing or replacement needs to be considered.

Connecting Old And New Hardwood

When a project joins new hardwood to an existing floor, we can assess the tie-in and refinishing work together. We can also discuss stain matching for localized repairs. Matching has limits, so the existing material and the areas being changed need to be considered for each job.

Protection And Optional Moving

Ask about protection for floors, carpets and stairs while work is taking place. Include the areas you want covered when discussing the job so floor protection can be considered alongside the installation or repair work.

Optional Professional Moving

Furniture does not have to be an unanswered part of the plan. Ask about arranging professional movers before and after the flooring work, or let us know how you will clear the space yourself. Moving and additional cleaning are optional services with separate costs; they are not automatically included in an installation.
